Why Functional Medicine?
⚡️We bring a Functional Medicine approach to Mental Health, a root cause resolution approach.
.
⚡️Functional Medicine is an approach to healing that views the human as an integrated whole composed of systems that interact and feedback to and through one another. As a functional medicine practice, we seek to understand the root cause drivers of physical and mental dis-ease.
.
⚡️Informed by this systems-oriented approach, we utilize a number of appropriate interventions as a part of an individualized care plan in combination to right dis-ease and bring flourishing. Interventions such as nutritherapy, movement practices, stress management, and targeted nutraceutical therapy.
.
⚡️Rather than guessing we test to assess and address, as one dis-ease can have many causes. This allows us to be targeted with our interventions enabling the body's own wisdom to flow and allow for healing and resolution.
.
⚡️There is an old saying that genes load the gun and the environment pulls the trigger. Genetics play a far smaller role in the manifestation of disease than the expression of our genes, which is heavily influenced by our environment, lifestyles, ways of eating, social connection, connection to the natural environment, self-talk and more.
.
⚡️Gene-Environment interactions are considered as a promoter of dysfunction and healing. We utilize the signals of the environment as stimuli to modulate genetic expression.
.
⚡️There are 5 major components of a Functional Medicine approach:
Holds space for and considers a patient's complete story.
Is relationship-centric- establishing a mutually empowering relational healing container between practitioner and client.
Identifying and addressing the impact of a client's modifiable lifestyle factors, as well as environmental exposures
Utilizes a systems biology matrix
Addresses the individual with personalized recommendations in aid of their unique path of well-being
