“The wound becomes the womb through which we are reborn.” -Michael Meade.
I cannot stop thinking about this quote. I heard it on Michael Meade’s podcast, Living Myth.
For me this statement holds all the potency that lead me to the path of healing…the call to serve in the cessation of suffering. Our own special unique obstacles, traumas, “wounds” hold within them what it takes to invite us into growth and self discovery.
There is often a lot of resistance in the healing journey. Our identities might be wrapped up quite intricately with the story we hold of ourselves and the challenges we present. Sometimes the signature of our nervous system is such that a specific event lives on, trapped in a pattern of holding that needs to be released. Maybe, everytime we greet something as simple as feeding ourselves a snack, we are jolted with the shame we experienced as a child when we were scolded for eating too much. Maybe we “know” the “right thing to do”, but we keep clinging to the old ways of doing things out of comfort. Sometimes that comfort is the wound.
There is an invitation that our pain, our challenges, obstacles and resistance offers us. That invitation is to live our lives on purpose and with intention. To show up and be who we want to be. I also believe that the amount of resistance that we experince in facing and growing through our challenges is equal to the amount of freedom experienced when we come to the breakthrough moment of radical acceptance and committment to nourishing ourselves from the lens of compassion.
The wound becomes the womb when we agree to look at ourselves. When we agree to getting comfortable and intimate with our pain. When we allow it to envelop us and we surrender to not knowing the outcome. The rebirth is a new perspective. It is distance and space that allows us to hold our seat as the compassionate one who is the witness.
The work we are endeavoring in at Deep Well Collective is to greet people in partnership in this transformative journey that includes all facets of your being. We hold a non-dual view of what it means to live a well nourished life. Come as you are, knowing the challenges you bring are welcome compost for the garden of your life. Your wounds become the fertile soil that the seeds of your soul take nourishment from, take root in and then grow towards the light of your soul’s desire.
Holding you in loving awareness,
Sidney
